Southern iron - road
one of the most
oldest railways of Ukraine. Its extent makes more than 3000 km, the
developed length of the main ways makes over 4000 km. The geographical
position and a configuration of directions and road sites defines its
big transit value. The road provides transport service of region with a
mining industry, a machinery-producing industry and agriculture are six
areas with the population about 20 million persons. The bookmark of the
first stone under a station building has occurred on September, 18th,
1868 in the presence of Minister of Finance Rejtera, the vice-governor
and the builder of roads Poljakova. For today the Station
Kharkov-passenger is a big complex of the constructions necessary for
service of passengers, granting of services by it, and the station
building is an embodiment of creative competition of several
generations of artists, sculptors, masters of a bas-relief and art
moulding. Monumental and laconic it is recognised the best in the
country and one of difficult under the constructive decision.

| Freedom area has arisen in 1926 on a
waste ground place. Long time the area carried other name - the area
Dzerzhinsky, and only since 1998 has received the present name. Freedom
area - one of the largest areas of the world. It consists of a
rectangular part and round. Length of the area of 750 metres, width of
a rectangular part of 130 metres, diameter of a circle of 350 metres.
The general size of the area - 11,5 hectares. It is the second-large
area of Europe and the fourth - the World. On Freedom area there are
practically all solemn actions and concerts in a city. The first
building, constructed on the area, was and remains and now - Gosprom. |

| Project Gosprom (the House of the
state industry) has been developed in 1925 S.S.Serafimovym's by
Leningrad architects, with. M.Kravets, M.D.Felgerom, P.P.Rottertom.
Gosprom has been constructed in the shortest terms: on November, 21st,
1926 there was a building bookmark, and already on November, 7th, 1928
it has been put in operation and for 1934 in the state industry House
the Council of National Commissioners of Ukraine took places. Founder
Gosproma is F.E.Dzerzhinsky. The height of building Gosprom of 63 m.
the General height together with one of the television towers first in
the USSR (it is established in 1955 in length 45), makes 108 metres.
Gosprom it is considered an architecture monument. |

| The
Constitution area has arisen simultaneously with the Kharkov fortress
and was called as Nikolaev or Nikolsky by name the church which was on
it of Sacred Nikolay. Since 1659 on the area long time annual Uspensky
fair was arranged. Long before its opening all area built up with time
wooden benches and buffooneries, and the area named Exhibition. In
January, 1919 the area has been renamed into area Теveleva (by name a
member Kharkov underground Regional committee КP. At, the victim in
struggle against German invaders in 1918). Since 1975 the area carried
the name the area of the Soviet Ukraine. In 1996 the area has received
the present name - the Constitution area. Length of the area - 550
metres, width from 45 to 120 metres. The area with square makes 4
hectares. |

| The
Rose area Luxembourg has arisen in the beginning of XVII century when
here in 1660-1662 the strengthening adjoining a fortress has been
constructed. It was called as a jail. The jail had four wells. Round a
jail the ditch has been dug out. Works on its strengthening proceeded
till 1686. The jail centre has turned after a while to the big area
which was called National or Trading, - here there was a main city
market. Along with Trading, the area named as well Frontal as here in
XVIII - the beginning of XIX century public punishments which proceeded
till 1830 were spent. The present name carries the area of 1919. Before
it was called as Pavlovsk |
